Without their stories, The Artisan Lab wouldn’t exist.
The inspiration for this project came from the resilience, skill, and creativity of artisans like Julienne and Claudine.
Listening to their experiences has been one of the most humbling and eye-opening parts of this journey—one that words will never fully capture or truly do justice.

Bringing craftsman, culture and heritage fo your homes
We believe that every artisan brings not just craftsmanship but a deep sense of culture and heritage to their work. While some may choose to share their personal journeys, we honor the fact that storytelling comes in many forms and sometimes, some things are better left unsaid.
Our role isn’t to tell their stories but to create a safe space where their artistry is valued, their skills recognised, and their work truly appreciated. This is just the beginning of sharing their stories and building one together.
Collaborating with artisan cooperatives
It’s crucial that their values are aligned with our mission. Our current partners are both projects led by women that aim to support women who have experienced domestic violence by providing them with opportunities to generate an income that would likely not have access to otherwise.

Young Women’s Destination is a lifeline. It’s how these women get work, and it’s a space that promotes openness and innovation. It’s what puts a smile on their faces.
How our products are made

How our products are made
Raw materials such as raffia or sisal are harvested and dried, then beaten in to strips of fibre
Once the fibre is ready to use, the ladies will dye necessary colours for our custom orders
After dying is complete, the weaving process can take up to 2-3 weeks per basket
